Every single one of us is alive and breathing because of sacrifice. Someone, somewhere has sacrificed for you and me. It’s another Monday, everyone. However, this isn’t just “any” Monday. This is a day in which we remember those who have sacrificed so that we can live, be free, enjoy cookouts, and be with our families.
We rightly recognize those who have given their lives and the precious families that still heavily mourn. However, we honor the sacrifice by living. That’s what the sacrifice is ultimately for—so that others may live. So, it’s not just remarkable to be here today because of someone’s sacrifice, but it is more pertinent to do something great with that gift.
Your life is not your own, even though we mostly treat it as such. Our life was given to us, as a gift. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. He gave up His life, not so that’d we’d feel guilty about it or that He could hold that over our heads. He did it so that we may live.
“And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Ephesians 5:2
