500 Years!!! (Magnificent Monday)

Happy Monday, everyone!  While it might be getting colder outside, the joy of the holidays is right around the corner.  However, the truth of the matter is, if you know Christ, you can have constant joy in the fact that you are saved by God's grace!

Tomorrow, everyone will celebrate Halloween, dress up, trick or treat, and wolf down some candy.  But, tomorrow also commemorates an important anniversary in Christian history.  It will be exactly 500 years to the day that Martin Luther nailed his ninety-five theses on the door of the church in Wittenberg.

Why is this important?

Well, in short, it led to the Protestant Reformation.  It led back to the important biblical truth that salvation is by grace through faith, not through other means or works.

We often hear people say, "it's not about religion, it's about a relationship."

I agree.  Life is about having a relationship with Jesus Christ.  However, that doesn't mean that we ignore the role religion has played in keeping us centered on biblical truth.  Honestly, if it wasn't for Martin Luther, the history of the Christian movement would be drastically different.  It was his courage to speak biblical truth that has pointed many back to Christ.  No matter your denomination, you can appreciate his influence.

Ultimately, I am thankful that salvation is dependent upon Jesus' performance, not mine.  That brings me great joy as I look to serve Him!
