No One is Immune

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

I am comforted by these words of Christ, because as He reminds His followers....THIS LIFE WILL HAVE TROUBLE.

I've been writing less on my blog over the past few months due to my focus on writing my first novel, The Chaser.  I'm extremely excited for people to read it!  Even if only five people end up reading it, I look forward to those readers encountering the theme.  The theme centers around the fact that No One is Immune to trials and trouble in this world.  It will eventually happen.
However, its not a depressive commentary on the reality of our world, but instead, a look at the hope we can ultimately have in God through relationship with Christ.  In addition, its an important reminder that heartache will come and when it does, we need each other.  I believe this is one of the biggest reasons God built us for relationship, to bear each other's burdens and walk the lonely road beside those who are hurting.

The book takes a hard look at characters dealing with the tragedy of death, having hopes and dreams crushed, struggling with a past of abuse, and trying hard to cope with PTSD.  In the midst of the darkness, are those striving to be the light, to offer hope and joy in a world where it doesn't always make sense.

During this Holy Week, I am reminded of the hope we have in Christ.  I am thankful for my Savior!  I'm thankful not only for His sacrifice, but for the fact that He defeated death through His glorious resurrection!!!

He has overcome the world.  In Him, we can overcome as well.  So if you're hurting, know you can  have peace.  If you think it won't happen to you, understand that no one is immune.  You will have tribulation, but you too can also overcome.
