Time to Stop Sinking

I wake up every morning to a sea of hopelessness.  COVID-19 rages on.  Our country is in turmoil.  Children are being exploited, trafficked, and abused.  Regardless of what you say or do, everyone views it as political.  One expression of thought will polarize half of your circle of friends and colleagues.  We have another election in which those running have despicable character and gross arrogance.  No matter the outcome it seems, our nation will be divided.  And, at every turn it appears that God has been wiped out.

But, He hasn’t.

Despite the circumstances.  Despite the sea of hopelessness, I can still wake up every morning with hope and peace.  Most days I have to immediately begin with prayer before my feet touch the ground from my bed.  I have to ask God to remind me of the hope that is found in Jesus.
And often, I’m reminded of the old hymn, "The Solid Rock".

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:38-39‬ ‭

If I put hope in myself, a politician, a cure, money, a gun, a slogan, or a human relationship, I will wake up each morning feeling doomed.  Because I can take one look around me and see that it’s falling apart.  But when my hope is squarely on Jesus, I have confidence and peace.  Nothing will separate me from the love of God in Christ.  He has victory and I am His!

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand.  All other ground is sinking sand.

Do you feel like you’ve been sinking in sand?

Time to stand on the solid rock of Jesus.
