22 Veterans a Day

Studies show that we lose 22 veterans a day to suicide.  One life is one life too many!!!

You are not alone.  Our veterans are not alone.  Please check out these resources:

I've been challenged a few times to do the 22 Day Push-up Challenge.  It's a Veterans Suicide Prevention initiative.  Many of my military brothers, sisters, and fellow chaplains have done this.  It is designed to bring awareness to the struggles our service members and veterans wrestle with.  Most will do 22 push-ups a day representing the "22 veterans a day".  They record themselves doing 22 push-ups and nominate a new person every day to do the challenge and bring awareness to this serious issue.

I am not opposed to joining the challenge, and have knocked it out before.  I think this is a worthy issue to highlight.  I believe we need to work to help remove the stigma surrounding mental health, and work toward removing any resistance that stands in the way of people seeking care.

I'm notorious for doing things a little off-script, so this is my most recent personal attempt to bring awareness to this issue.  However, I love seeing people knock out a full 22 days.  Keep it up! It's awesome!!

I just want you to know that you're loved!  Let's love those who hurt, and be a resource for them.  It starts with you just being willing to listen!
